The Safeguarding Assurance Toolkit has been developed by Safeguarding Today Ltd (SGT) and Safeguarding Today Online Ltd (SGTO) to support organisations in reviewing and strengthening their safeguarding arrangements through structured self-assessment, governance assurance, and continuous improvement.
The toolkit is based on current UK safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance, recognised good practice, and sector-specific safeguarding expectations at the time of publication. It is intended as a practical safeguarding assurance resource and should not be interpreted as legal advice, regulatory advice, or a substitute for independent professional or legal guidance. Organisations requiring legal advice should seek guidance from a suitably qualified solicitor or Direct Access Barrister.
Completion of the toolkit does not constitute accreditation, certification, regulatory approval, or independent assurance of safeguarding effectiveness. The accuracy and quality of the audit findings depend upon the evidence provided, the objectivity of those completing the assessment, and the organisation’s own governance and quality assurance processes.

Responsibility for safeguarding, compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, implementation of safeguarding arrangements, and ongoing review and improvement remains solely with the organisation using the toolkit.
The toolkit should be used as part of a wider safeguarding framework that includes appropriate policies, procedures, training, governance, supervision, professional judgement, and, where necessary, independent safeguarding advice.
